Map 3: Phang Nga Bay

A massive sheltered bay with tens of small islands. The perimeter is surrounded in amazing limestone scenery, huge towering cliffs and dense mangroves. There are two large populated islands in the centre of the bay, then tens of uninhabited small islands, some with beaches some without. Many of the islands are hollow, with caves that you can kayak into at high tide. In the bay it is easy to get away for days and see no other foreigners. Local fisherman or small settlements can be found where you can purchase or barter for fresh supplies. The ingredients for the prized 'bird's nest soup' (a delicacy in China) are harvested here.

  Paradise Island

Access: The bay is approximately 50km deep and 40 km across but with a long thin two piece island Koh Yao [ Koh - "island", Yao - "long" ] which is 30 by 5km in the middle. The Bay is surrounded by mangroves and huge towering limestone cliffs. Set off directly from our shop on the beach and utilise the first few cooler hours of the day to kayak up into the bay to begin your adventure.
